Dufferin-Peel Skating Club

A big thank you to all who attended to our Awards evening and A.G.M. on April 12^th.

The BMO medals were awarded to the following skaters by Mr. Tent, a BMO representative:

                 Emily Allen – CanSkater of the Year

                 Macey Unger – CanSkate Champion 2010  

                Charis Boland ­– CanSkate Champion 2010

Honours were also given to Brooklyn Grieg, Leah Sterling and Eva Van Etten for completing their first Skate Canada Test.

Other awards and certificates were presented to Foundation skaters, Olympic Torch Relay Celebration participants and CanSkate Program Assistants.

After the awards we held our annual A.G.M.

An amendment to our constitution was passed – this amendment is posted on our website.

An Election was held for board members.  The following people were elected onto the D.P.S.C board: 

Anne Augustin, Dale Bower and Sharon Clark were elected to a two year term and Anne Burzese was elected to a one year term.

DPSC's Annual General Meeting and Awards presentations will be held at the Teen Ranch Ice Corral on Monday, April 12 at 7pm (immediately following the Monday CanSkate session).  It is very important that club members attend, as there is an important amendment to our club constitution, as well as elections for new members to the Board of Directors (if your child skates with DPSC, you are a club member).  If you know you cannot attend, please print the Proxy Voting Form, fill it in, and either leave it at the Ice Corral office, or give it to one of the Board members, or any coach.  The amendment, as well as our existing constitution, are available via links below.

The nominating committee has confirmed the following candidates for election to the Board of Directors:

• Tracey Vail

If the amendment to the constitution is passed, there will be 4 board positions to fill from the 6 candidates.

Thursday April 15 – Dedication skate rescheduled to Tuesday April 13 – 4-30 until 6pm.

Friday April 16 CanSkate Foundation and Dedication skate rescheduled to Wednesday April 14  – Foundation/Dedication  4-30 to 6pm and CanSkate 6pm until 6-50pm

During the week of April 19th to 23rd there will be Ticket Ice on:
Monday April 19 6:00am – 8:00am
Tuesday April 20 5:00pm – 7:00pm
Wednesday April 21 5:00pm- 7:00pm
Thursday April 22 6:00am – 8:00am
Friday April 23 6:00am – 8:00am

Pre-registered Winter Semester morning skaters will be still
pre-registered for the morning ice only during Transition Week. All
other Morning Ice skaters must pay by cash or ticket.
All skaters on the April 20 & April 21, 5:00 – 7:00pm ice time must pay
by cash or ticket and sign-in.
Club members: $10 cash per hour skated
Non-home club skaters $15 cash per hour skated

March Break time change:

Monring ice on Monday March 15, Thursday March 18 and Friday March 19 will be held from 8am until 10am.  If you are not pre registered for Morning ice,  tickets are available for purchase from the office in books of 10.  One ticket must be redeemed for each hour skated.

All evening skate times have not been changed during March Break.

Friday April 2 – Good Friday.  There will be NO morning ice.

Monday April 5 Morning ice will be held from 8am until 10am.

Other schedule changes for April are as follows:

Thursday April 15 rescheduled to Tuesday April 13 – 4-30 until 6pm.

Friday April 16 rescheduled to Wednesday April 14  – Foundation 4-30 to 6pm and CanSkate 6pm until 6-50pm.

Our awards night and A.G.M will be held in the banquet room at Teen Ranch on Monday, April 12,  2010 from 7pm to 8pm.  

Refreshments will be served.

It is essential that all club member who can attend be at the AGM.  In addition to the election of your club directors, there will be a vote on  an important amendment to our club constitution (Proposed Amendment to the General By-Laws of the Dufferin-Peel Skating Club).

Registration will begin Monday March 15th for the Spring Session. 

Spring Semester registrations must be done in person at the Ice Corral office during business hours. Full payment must be received at the office to secure your place. Space is limited.
Although registrations are preferred to be done in person, you may register by telephone with a credit card by calling the office and arranging to register at a time when the office staff is not too busy.
Programs are available in CanSkate (learn-to-skate with lessons included), Foundation Figure Skating (lessons included), and all levels of STARSkate and Competitive Skate (private lessons).

Please register your child/ren for session three before Monday February 8th.  Please be advised that some changes have been made to the session 3 schedule.  (Schedule changes are posted below.)   Programs available:- CanSkate (Monday and Friday) Foundation and Dedication.

Please visit the office at Teen Ranch to register your child/ren for all programs.  The Teen Ranch office is open during regular office times and open late on Monday and Wednesday evenings until 7pm. 

A) Sunday January 31: cancelled. This is the last Sunday of this semester. The make-up skate will be Monday February 15 from 1:00 – 3:00pm (Family Day).
Anyone that can't do the make-up date may skate those hours on any other regular sessions before the end of the Spring semester.

B) Sunday February 7: cancelled. This is the first Sunday of Semester 3. There will be no make-up skate planned. The office will adjust the prices of this semester.
Anyone that has paid in advance for all semesters please contact the Ice Corral office for a credit/refund.

C) Thursday April 15: cancelled. Make-up skate is Tuesday April 13 from 4:30 – 6:00pm. Dedication Skaters

D) Friday April 16: cancelled.   Make-up skate is Wednesday April 14 from 4:30 – 6.00pm Friday Foundation and Dedication Skaters  6.00pm – 7:00pm CanSkate Friday only.
